AUDITIONS: If you have special concerns about your student auditioning, don’t hesitate to speak to Barb Powers ahead of time, BEFORE the actual auditions begin. PARENTS should make any appropriate notes on their student’s audition card.
PARENTS: During the auditions Drama Camp coordinators will be available to answer all questions This is usually a formal meeting where Barb talks too long, but hopefully this audition meeting will be informally informative. There will also be an opportunity for parents to volunteer for a few small jobs during drama camp. Since auditions should be short, it is probably best if parents stay close to the church in case we are finished quite early. You are welcome to watch, wait in the car or wait in the spacious foyer area.
AUDITION CARD PHOTO: Please take a clear, school picture type photo of your student, print the picture, and attach it to the audition card that appears on the website. Please do this before arriving on audition day. Plain paper is fine, as long as it is clear.
PAYMENT: On audition day, you may make your final tuition payment with cash, or a check payable to FWAHS. Final payment is due no later than September 7, 2020. Refer to your registration confirmation to verify your deposit, and balance due. If you think there is a discrepancy, please contact Sherry Gajewski as soon as possible.
HOW TO PREPARE: Come with a good attitude, a loud voice and enthusiasm. If you want to ‘warm up’, practice speaking and projecting your voice from across your yard or perhaps in your empty sanctuary at church. Every year our greatest obstacle is projection. If you can be heard at the back of the sanctuary (without screaming), you will be much more likely to receive a speaking part.
SCRIPTS: Having scripts before auditions are not required. Nonreaders or slower readers can be prompted what to say if needed. Please note this on your audition card. Elementary students may be asked to sing, but no worries, you won’t be asked to sing any of the songs in the music score.
If your family prefers to wear masks or shields, go for it. No judgment from us. Masks are not required as per church guidelines. There will be few of us, so we may as well keep our distance since there is plenty of room to spread out. Hand sanitizer is available. Please do the customary courtesies. Cough into your sleeve, or better yet outside. Wash your hands. Throw away your own tissues. Don’t stand in people’s bubbles. Limit hugging to your family. Stuff like that.
And be flexible, kind, and patient. We are all trying our best.
See you at auditions!
